2006 has been an eventful year for finniston, they caught the ear of several major label bosses resulting in the recording of a demo paid for by Polydor Records. appearances at the shetland fork festival alongside the grand-daddy of folk music Dougie Mclean and grammy award winner Tim O'brien, and at speyfest in august supporting mercury music winner Kate Rusby have rounded off a successful summer. Polydor didn't think there was a hit on the studio recording, but when finniston released it on their own label under the title of 'golden hour of strict tempo dancing' it made single of the week in the daily record (scotland's biggest selling newspaper) beating paris hilton!
